Today, I went down to Exhibition place. I got there at 5:05am — and really should have been there about half an hour earlier. The bus was about 40 minutes late, so I waited about an hour. But I’m not going to rant about that here, haha.
I went down to volunteer at the Ride for Heart that the Heart and Stroke Foundation does every year — since a] my uncle passed away last month due to a stroke, and b] my father’s had heart/stroke problems throughout the past ten years or so, but c] I don’t have a bicycle, I really wanted to participate but had no way of actually doing so. So instead, I spent six hours (from 6-12) standing in front of a door greeting people (and making sure they were in the right place and not just trying to sneak in to the area with free food). My smiling muscles hurt by about 10. D:
Anyway, this wasn’t the picture that I should have snapped today - I was on an old-school (like, from 1951!) streetcar going back. (They let me on for free ‘cause I went up to them and asked if they knew where I could get change for a $20, and I was wearing my bright red VOLUNTEER t-shirt! :D) It was a little unreal, but I was exhausted to the point where walking was a bit of a challenge, so turning around and snapping a photo was pretty much out of the question. Apparently it’s run on summer Sundays on that route (the 509 Harbourfront from Union to Exhibition), which is good to know.
Anyway, this picture was taken at about 4 in the morning, on the southwest corner of Bathurst and Finch, trying to amuse myself (it didn’t work) by being all artistic (it didn’t work) so I wouldn’t get TOO angry at the bus driver (also didn’t work). I also managed to effectively creep out the other people in the shelter, haha.
